Second Week of Filming 260 DAYS
After a restful Sunday, the second week of filming 260 DAYS began. A thunderstorm that swept through the region slightly slowed the planned shooting schedule, but the first day of the new week was successfully completed.
We continued filming in Gorjani, once again in Kula Street, where key scenes from the Gubina family house were being shot. These scenes featured the living room, dining room, as well as Marijan’s bedroom. Additional scenes were filmed at dusk and night in Dalj, depicting the Gubina family home, with some scenes taking place in the village and on the road.
The set gathered young Marijan (Will Gober), his father Hinko (Sam Hazeldine), mother Marija (Camilla Rutherford), and sisters Nena (Isabella Dempster), Gabrijela (Florence Bensberg), and Helena (Antea Huljev Žuvan). Joining them were the characters Uroš, Miloš, and Željko. Each sequence added a heavier tone, with the pale, frightened faces of the children and their mother evoking deep empathy from the viewer.
The second week of filming was marked by two significant visits. First, the author of the book 260 Days, Marijan Gubina, made his first personal appearance on set. He expressed how painful it was to watch and hear all these scenes. Reliving the hell of his childhood is not easy, but Marijan also conveyed his deep gratitude to director Jakov Sedlar and the entire film crew, with whom he has boundless trust. He thanked everyone involved in the project, emphasizing that without certain individuals, the project would never have survived.
We were also visited by Marko Mađar from Vinkovci, a passionate admirer of Croatian history, films, and literature. Marko, a 23-year-old young man living with cerebral palsy, came to fulfill his greatest wish – to meet Jakov Sedlar and witness the making of 260 DAYS. His face beamed with indescribable joy, not only because he is a huge fan of Jakov Sedlar’s filmography but also because he is an expert on his work. Marko’s parents are immensely grateful to everyone for giving him the opportunity to create such a cherished memory by visiting the film set.
The film crew is extremely pleased with the progress so far. Work on complex scenes continues, and the pleasant evening temperatures allow us to film outdoors without difficulty. Shooting goes on late into the evening, but the results are more than worth the effort. With each new scene, the excitement grows as we slowly approach the end of this phase of the project. Finally, below is a gallery of photos capturing scenes and behind-the-scenes moments.
