Guardians of recent Croatian history – Homeland War

A picture speaks a thousand words, and shared moments among authors who have addressed the topic of the Homeland War represent scenes etched in memory. Marijan Gubina has had the privilege of associating with some exceptional guardians of recent Croatian history, individuals whose words have become beacons of truth from the recent past.

Being in the company of great people is both an honor and a joy, as Marijan Gubina emphasizes, knowing the authors whose works have become indispensable testimonies of the Homeland War. Among them, the following names stand out:

  • Goran Hiller, author of “Confessions of a Prisoner,”
  • Vilim Karlović, author of “I Survived Vukovar and Ovčara,”
  • Damir Plavšić, author of “Battle for Vukovar,”
  • Zdravko Carević, author of “When the Cherry Trees Blossomed; Wedding Guests Passed through this Alley,”
  • Antun Fuglinski, author of “Warrior’s Memories,” and
  • Zoran Filipović, author of “1991.”

United in their desire to convey authentic stories, these authors have written their testimonies of bravery, resistance, and the strength of people who have gone through the most challenging periods of Croatian history.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a shared photograph of all these great authors, but we hope to realize that idea in the future. If not sooner, then perhaps during the filming of “260 DAYS” or at one of the festivals.
