About the Book

“We who have survived the camps remember our brothers and sisters and the sorrowful, tormented children. We remember the grievous events in which everything was taken from them: freedom, pride, security, loved ones, and ultimately life. We who have survived continually resist the burden of captivity we carry on our backs and too often and too quietly hear of one of us succumbing to its consequences. For them, for us, for our children, and for future generations, we must persist so they are not forgotten. We, the survivors, are left with memories and freedom, the freedom to choose our own path. I, a former prisoner, have chosen a path where I forgive, do not judge, do not hate, send a message of peace, and pray for them. I ask you to strive to do the same.”
