Impressions from the first press conference

Exciting atmosphere filled the room at the recently held first press conference of the film “260 DAYS”. Alongside members of our team – Dražen Majstrović, director of the company 260 DAYS d.o.o., film director Jakov Sedlar, and author of the book “260 days” Marijan Gubina – important guests attended to show their support and offer assistance in the film’s realization. Among those present were the deputy mayor of the City of Osijek, Dragan Vulin, the president of the Croatian Society of Camp Inmates of Serbian Concentration Camps of Osijek-Baranja County, Damir Buljević, and the deputy prefect Josip Miletić.

It was announced that we have secured a budget of 2.35 million euros for the project, covering the production costs of the film with an outstanding British cast. Among the announced cast members are the German actress Hanna Schygulla, the legendary Hollywood actor Armand Assante, and domestic talents Lujo Kunčević, Pero Eranović, and Konstantin Haag.

The filming of the movie is planned for the spring of 2024. After the completion of filming, post-production will take place in Hollywood, with an expected duration of 3-6 months. The targeted presentation of the film at film festivals is scheduled for the winter of 2024/25, while the wider audience will have the opportunity to experience “260 DAYS” at the beginning of 2025.

Prva tiskovna konferencija filma 260 DAYS

Uzbudljiva atmosfera ispunila je prostoriju na nedavno održanoj prvoj tiskovnoj konferenciji filma “260 DAYS”. Uz članove našeg tima – direktora tvrtke 260 DAYS d.o.o., Dražena Majstrovića, redatelja filma, Jakova Sedlara i autora knjige “260 dana”, Marijana Gubinu – prisustvovali su i važni gosti koji su na ovaj način iskazali podršku te se stavili na raspolaganje za pomoć u realizaciji filma. Među prisutnima su bili zamjenik gradonačelnika Grada Osijeka, Dragan Vulin, predsjednik Hrvatskog društva logoraša srpskih koncentracijskih logora Osječko-baranjske županije, Damir Buljević, i zamjenik župana Josip Miletić.

Najavljeno je da smo za projekt osigurali budžet od 2,35 milijuna eura, te time pokrili troškove produkcije filma s iznimnom britanskom glumačkom postavom. Među najavljenim glumačkim imenima su njemačka glumica Hanna Schygulla, legendarni holivudski gumac Armand Assante, te domaći talenti Lujo Kunčević, Pero Eranović i Konstantin Haag.

Snimanje filma planirano je za proljeće 2024. godine. Nakon završetka snimanja, postprodukcija će se odvijati u Hollywoodu, s očekivanim trajanjem od 3-6 mjeseci. Ciljano predstavljanje filma na filmskim festivalima planirano je tijekom zime 2024/25. godine, dok će šira publika imati priliku doživjeti “260 DAYS” početkom 2025. godine.

Ovom prilikom se želimo zahvaliti svima koji su prisustvovali konferenciji, pratili streaming i dijelili naše objave svojim prijateljima i poznanicima. Posebno se zahvaljujemo svim medijima koji su podržali našu kampanju dijeleći je sa svojom publikom.

Naša kampanja za prikupljanje sredstava nastavlja se s misijom angažiranja dodatnog hollywoodskog glumca, a ako budemo iznimno uspješni, čak i više hollywoodskih glumaca. Na taj bismo način uvelike povećali atraktivnost filma na globalnoj razini. Skora crowdfunding kampanja omogućit će sudjelovanje u financiranju filma svima koji to budu željeli, već od iznosa od 10 eura. Pozivamo sve zainteresirane da nam se pridruže u ostvarivanju ovog uzbudljivog projekta.

From 2011 until today, the book “260 Days” has received incredible reception both in Croatia and around the world. This exceptional war drama deeply touched the hearts of readers, laying the foundation for an incredible journey that now leads us to the realization of the film “260 DAYS”.

Printed in 46,000 copies, translated into 15 languages, and printed in 9 different languages, the book has found its way into the hearts of readers worldwide.

Marijan appeared on numerous television shows, and as a guest on “Nedjeljom u 2”, he received an exceptional audience rating of 9.78.

Each of these successes represented a step closer to launching the project for the realization of the film, which began when the book reached the hands of director Jakov Sedlar. His excitement about the story set off a series of events.

“The novel ‘260 DAYS’ is exceptional for several reasons. According to many, it is the best book about the suffering of Croats in the Homeland War, the most authentic as literature. The novel has been printed several times in Croatia, translated into several world languages, and all comments about its literary quality (which is based on the fate of the writer and victim Marijan Gubina) are truly excellent. This novel has left no one indifferent to everything Marijan and his family went through, so it is not surprising that the time has finally come for this novel to be adapted into a film at the highest world level.”

Thanks to Jakov Sedlar’s involvement, Marijan’s war drama found itself in the right hands of several other professionals, from screenwriter Barry Morrow to a series of actors, all of whom were thrilled. Barry Morrow, in his comment, emphasizes that “260 DAYS” is not just a Croatian story, but a story that is understandable and acceptable to the whole world.

“I haven’t read such a powerful piece in a long time. I want the script for ‘260 DAYS’, in which I will follow the authentic story from the excellent novel, to be the crown of my career… This is not just a Croatian story, it is understandable and acceptable to the whole world!” Barry Morrow, Oscar-winning screenwriter

The script for the film “260 DAYS” is signed by Barry Morrow as the supervisor. Morrow is best known for the film “Rain Man”, for which he also wrote the script and later won an Oscar. An outstanding comment was made just three months before he signed the script for “260 DAYS” as its supervisor.

“I just read the script for the feature film ‘260 DAYS’. Before that, I read the book, which touched me deeply. In my opinion, the script is an excellent template for a film that has great potential, so I will be glad if I am engaged to play one of the roles in it.” Armand Assante, Hollywood actor

Armand Assante, the legendary Hollywood actor, best known for his role in the film “The Mambo Kings”, is the first of the Hollywood actors we have secured for the cast of our film. Through this campaign, we will strive to raise enough funds to, alongside Assante, secure the engagement of several more Hollywood names.

Through this film project, we plan not only to bring the pages of the book to life but also to compete on a global level. We want “260 DAYS” to be not just a film but a tool to fight against hatred, condemnation, and wars. This story is not only about Croatian history; it is a universal message that will reach every heart that has ever felt pain and suffering.

In our effort to counteract hatred and condemnation, our purpose is to raise awareness of the real consequences of war. With the film “260 DAYS”, we aim to spark dialogue and inspire changes that will spread love, understanding, and peace. Through this story, Marijan reminds us: “I, Marijan Gubina, do not generalize, condemn, or hate, and I ask you to make an effort to do the same!”

Od ideje do realizacije filma 260 DAYS

Od 2011. godine pa do danas, knjiga “260 dana” doživjela je nevjerojatan prijem kako u Hrvatskoj, tako i diljem svijeta. Ova izuzetna ratna drama duboko je dirnula srca čitatelja, postavljajući temelje za jedno nevjerojatno putovanje koje nas sada vodi do realizacije filma “260 DAYS”.

Tiskana u 46,000 primjeraka, prevedena na čak 15 jezika, i tiskana na 9 različitih jezika, knjiga je pronašla put do srca čitatelja diljem svijeta.
Snimljena je dokumentarna radio drama na trećem programu Hrvatskog radija.
Predstava “260 dana” u Hrvatskom narodnom kazalištu osvojila je niz prestižnih nagrada.
Marijan je gostovao u brojnim televizijskim emisijama, a kao gost emisije “Nedjeljom u 2”, ostvario je iznimnu ocjenu publike – 9,78.

Korak bliže realizaciji filma

Svaki od navedenih uspjeha predstavljao je jedan korak bliže pokretanju projekta za realizaciju filma, a započeo je kada je knjiga stigla u ruke redatelja Jakova Sedlara. Njegovo oduševljenje pričom pokrenulo je niz događaja.

„Roman „260 DAYS” izuzetan je iz niza razloga. Po mišljenju mnogih, to je najbolja knjiga o stradanju Hrvata u Domovinskom obrambenom ratu, najautentičnija kao literatura. Roman je do sada u Hrvatskoj tiskan nekoliko puta, preveden na nekoliko svjetskih jezika i svi komentari o njegovoj literarnoj kvaliteti (koja se temelji na sudbini pisca i stradalnika Marijana Gubine) uistinu su sjajni. Ovaj roman nikoga nije ostavio ravnodušnim na sve ono što su prošli Marijan i njegova obitelj, pa nije čudno da je konačno došlo vrijeme da se ovaj roman ekranizira u produkciji na najvišoj svjetskoj razini.”

Scenarij za film “260 DAYS” potpisuje upravo Barry Morrow kao supervizor. Morrow je najpoznatiji po filmu “Kišni čovjek”, za koji je također napisao scenarij, te naknadno dobio i Oskara. Istaknuti komentar, nastao je samo tri mjeseca prije nego što je potpisao scenarij “260 DAYS” kao njegov supervizor.

Armand Assante, legendarni hollywoodski glumac, najpoznatiji po ulozi u filmu “Kraljevi Mamba”, prvi je od hollywoodskih glumaca koje smo osigurali za postavu našeg filma. Ovom kampanjom nastojat ćemo prikupiti dovoljno sredstava da, uz Assantea, osiguramo angažman još nekoliko hollywoodskih imena.

Kroz ovaj filmski projekt, planiramo ne samo oživjeti stranice knjige nego i konkurirati na globalnoj razini. Želimo da “260 DAYS” ne bude samo film, već oruđe koje će se boriti protiv mržnje, osude i ratova. Ova priča nije samo o hrvatskoj povijesti, ona je univerzalna poruka koja će doprijeti do svakog srca koje je ikada osjetilo bol i patnju.

U nastojanju da se suprotstavimo mržnji i osudi, naša svrha je proširiti svijest o stvarnim posljedicama rata. Filmom “260 DAYS” želimo potaknuti dijalog i potaknuti promjene koje će širiti ljubav, razumijevanje i mir.
